Hyde House

Review Posted: Jul 10    Date of Visit: January
The house, our bedroom and porch were fine, and the breakfast was very nice. We stayed one night at the Hyde House and went biking on the Hock Hocking Adena bike trail the day of the night we stayed. We looked forward to taking showers after the hot ride, but there was very little hot water when we returned to our room to take showers. Very disappointing. There was a malfunction of the dishwasher that ran most of the day evidently that drained the hot water heater. It was fixed after I reported it, and the hot water came on later in the evening however, no mention was made to compensate us for the big inconvenience when we checked out. Also there was no soap, or glasses or cups in the bathroom. Evidently they don't provide those items.

Yard was filthy. Most dishes in cupboard were dirty and needed washed before using. Lake was not able to be fished in as algae and Lilly pads overran the lake. Hot tub was disgusting. Extremely sandy and took forever to heat up. When it did work, it would work for a little bit and then stop working. The house was nicely stocked, but was also stocked with other peoples belongings. A random sock, body wash, food in cupboards, empty bottles. Policies posted in house and in guest book were all different. One place said to leave key one sign said to bring to office. Just disappointed with the money that was spent. House could definitely use some sprucing up.

This home was beautiful! It was cozy and updated! I love that it had no WiFi, family relaxing and a ton to do even though it rained most of the time. We will be renting from them again. You should start a rewards program so continued renters can have a discount lol. There is so much to do and see in the area. The home had a huge hot tube and it was clean and the staff was very kind and helpful thank you

We stayed at sunset cabin despite some of the reviews and we had a lovely time. Really nice cabin! Communication was a little weird, I was told different things by different people and in the end didn't get charged the amount that was billed to me charged a lot less actually. My buddy also left some Tupperware and upon emailing no response was given. My only real complaint was that the large jacuzzi tub inside did not sufficiently work. The tub would not fill up, it had a sink faucet and took forever just to get a few inches of water in the thing. Other than that I had a great time and saved a few bucks too!

We were looking for a last minute cabin, and 1st Choice Cabins immediately responded to our inquiry. The cabin was wonderfully decorated, and literally had everything we needed, from bedding and towels to anything you need in the kitchen. The hot tub was wonderful to sit in at night and look at the stars. And we enjoyed visits from the neighbors cute, friendly doggies! On a side note, we blew a tire while driving to Lake Hope. If you need help, Dana's Tire Center in Nelsonville was fantastic!

My wife and I stayed in the Fullbrooks lodge for our 1 year anniversary. The place was beautiful, spacious, and clean. Beautiful views from the back porch. Customer service was also wonderful. We went down the day after a big snow storm, and they upgraded us from a smaller cabin to the lodge for no extra charge so that we could avoid traveling in the snow with our car. Our only quibble is that expectations for how tidy the place needed to be when we checked out seemed a little high such as having to do a load of towels prior to leaving.Overall our stay was wonderful and we would definitely stay again.

Review Posted: Jan 9    Date of Visit: January
I love this property because it has actual bed space to sleep the number of people that it claims to, and has a common area big enough for us all to eat and play games together. If there are issues, they are very easy to work with and very quick to respond. This is our 3rd year in a row there, and we still love it. The only real complaint is that the beds were very uncomfortable, but new mattresses would fix that right up.

Review Posted: Jan 3    Date of Visit: December
We really enjoyed the cabin and the beautiful scenery. Our only negatives were, we wished the cabin was further from the street and that the front entry way was a little bigger. Trying to get in and be mindful of not bringing in snow and mulch was a little challenging. Also we did not sleep in the master bedroom after the first night but chose to sleep on the sofas. The bed was very noisy and not comfortable at all. We were very impressed with how warm the cabin stayed in spite of the plunging temperatures. The bathroom was clean but needed some updating. The staff was very professional when we checked in to get our key and the cabin was ready when we got there at 2:15, so we didn't have to wait until 3:00.

We had so much fun here! The cabin was beautiful and the hot tub amazing. Especially after a day of hiking. We had a great surprise when the owner stopped by to check the hot tub (due to the extreme cold temperatures outside) and told us they owned the woods and we could explore. We found some cool caves and gorgeous sites. The only issue we had was the DVD player did not work and the coffee pot was bad. We did have satellite tv and free WiFi. We will definitely be back!!!

We stayed in December. Beautiful house, cozy room, & delicious breakfast. I do need to mention that there are no amenities provided, so bring your own. It mentions this on the website, but of course i forgot, so we had no soap for our showers! I do think that soap should be available for guests. We had never heard of this before, so make a note for yourself when booking. Otherwise, we would recommend staying in this lovely home.

We had our family thanksgiving at the Chalet and what an awesome home. There were 13 and there was room for everyone. The entire 3 generations loved it! Our only negative comment was what the kitchen lacked, no mixer, no vegetable peeler! We had to go out and buy a mixer for our mashed potatoes for dinner. The property was awesome and exactly as described online. We spent a spectacular weekend with our children and grandchildren and all will remember the weekend with great memories. Everyone loved the home!

We had a decent stay. For the price the cabin met our expectations. There were a few issues with the Fox den cabin though. The wifi was not working correctly, it would allow our phones to connect but not our tablet's or laptop's. We also had quite a few large wasp's coming from the ceiling fan. The cabin had adequate amenities so it was not all bad.

The Dogwood Room @ Hyde House
Ellen, Cincinnati
Review Posted: Nov 15    Date of Visit: November
I loved my stay in Historic Nelsonville @ the Hyde House. It's a beautiful old home, clean and tastefully decorated. I stayed in the Dogwood room: bay windows, so lots of natural light, comfortable King-sized bed, chaise lounge, and clawfoot bathtub. All the little things had been thought of-- from the fleece throw on the chaise lounge, to extra basic toiletries. The breakfast Jennifer provided each morning was generous and delicious. She is a warm and thoughtful hostess, ready with suggestions of things to do and places to eat. I will choose to stay with her again, either at the Hyde House or in one of her cabin rentals.

It was a nice, quiet and relaxing being tucked back in the woods. We have a friend who wants to inquire renting this cabin. I will relay your info to them. Thank you for the use/rental of this cabin!!!! We had a wonderful time celebrating our 25th wedding anniversary in your cabin, along with visiting the caverns & trails. P.S. You might have a mouse inside the upstairs crawl space. We could hear something chewing inside the door. Thank You again!!! Walter & Jeannette Sobczyk

The cabin was nicely decorated and very clean. The beds were very comfortable. We had a nice stay however, their were some issues. The well water had an awful smell and you could smell it on your body after showering. The water coming into the showers was only slightly warm. We did realize that this was a new property and was told that they were getting city water soon. No air conditioning either. We told the rental agency about the problems. All they said was thanks for the feed back. No apology at all. Kinda disappointing. We were supplied with drinking water thank goodness.
